Workshop: Beyond the Script: Screenwriting Tools for Every Writer

Ian Pike • 26 October 2026

Online workshop via Zoom with screenwriter Ian Pike

Screenwriting follows some well-established rules and structures, but the techniques behind them can be invaluable to writers of all kinds. Whether you're developing a novel, short story, children's book or another form of fiction, understanding how screenwriters approach narrative structure, character development, dialogue and pacing can help you tell stronger, more compelling stories.

In this practical and engaging workshop, Ian Pike, an experienced television writer and published author of several children's books, will share insights, techniques and tips drawn from decades of professional writing. Discover how to apply the principles of screenwriting to your own work, whatever the genre or medium, and give your stories greater impact.
