Collingwood College, Durham University. Venue for NAWG Festival of Writing 2010

There are many extra activities  that will make your stay exceptional this year, in a college that is part of Durham University.  Collingwood is in an ideal location and within walking distance from the centre of the historic city of Durham.  Or, for the non brisk walkers, the number 6 bus runs every 15 minutes from Durham Bus Station (town centre) and stops outside the college.

Kate Walker will guide you through ‘What sort of fiction should I write?’; Creating characters; Plotting; and Writing a sex scene.  Steven Wade’s workshops cover all aspects of writing, from serious appraisal, through Preparation, Ideas and Skills; Reasearch and Synopsis + case study; and Structure and content.  Tim Wilson will guide you through what  you need to know about writing historical fiction, from the basic approach, through Research, Language and Style.  His Sunday morning session, for poets will teach  rhythm and meaning.  Also, on a fun packed Saturday,  you will have more  poetry, ‘Back to Basics’  from Bob Beagrie and ‘How to beat writers’ block’ and ‘How to write flash fiction’ from Marvin Close, who are both expanding this year’s line-up of expert  tutors.
