Best of the Best

To calculate the most successful NAWG group and the most successful individual over the years nine 1996 to 2004, five points have been awarded to every winner, three points to each runner-up and two points to all writers with a highly commended in each category of the annual creative writing competitions.

The top-scoring group is Congleton Writers’ Forum, who have amassed 79 points. In second place are Free Spirit Writers with 64, followed by Writers’ Reign with 58. Nene Valley Writers have 57, Alsager Writers’ Group 48, Wilmslow Creative Writers’ Circle 43, Janus Writers and Lewes U3A Writing Workshop 38, Lincoln Phoenix Writers’ Group 37, Thames Valley Writers’ Circle 36, Chanctonbury Writers Group 35, Ashton Writers’ Group and Wellingborough Writers 34, Salford Women Writers 31, Market Rasen Writers’ Group, Barrack Road Writers and Pendora 30, The Untapped Writers Group 28, Carmarthen Writers Circle 27, Telling Tales Creative Writing Group 26, Room 2 Write 25, The Inn Scribers, Dunholme Writers, Wear Valley Writers Group and Kessingland Writers 23, Hope Valley Writers 22, Moorside Writers 20 points.

Highest scoring individual is Mike Wilson of Free Spirit Writers with a 39 point total, with Morag Hadley (Associate Member) on 33. John Statham (Alsager Writers’ Group) has 32 points, Celia Meade (Writers Reign) 28 points, and Diane Wilson (Free Spirit Writers) has 25 points.
