Women Writing Southside

The group has been going for around 12 years and was started by Janet Paisley, author and writer of TV plays, who was then writer-in-residence in Glasgow. We now have 13 members, having recently done extensive advertising for new people. Seven of us have had articles/poems/stories printed in newspapers, magazines etc.  Our most prolific writer is an octogenarian who has just published a book concerning the war-time exploits of her husband. We meet every Tuesday afternoon in a pub. Every two weeks a different group member takes the session and it is up to her as to how the meeting is conducted. We have no overall leader. Each year two authors are invited to come to the group, our work having been submitted to them beforehand, so that these can be discussed at the meetings.
