Writers’ Circle member, Irene Black has

NAWG Annual Best Short Story award. In
her novel, The Moon’s
Complexion she
has used her experience of living in the countries portrayed to produce
a work of literary fiction, played out in the Indian subcontinent and
England during the 1990s. It
is a romantic thriller, and an exploration of prejudice and
preconceptions. She
now writes full-time.

classifies his work as ‘hobby-writing’. He is an associate member of the
Lincoln Phoenix Writers and a frequent contributor to ‘Link’ by way of his
‘Speaking Personally’ column and a succession of short articles focused on
the art of creative writing. Poetry, short stories and three novellas (one
published) have flowed from his word processor, bringing him success with
entries in NAWG, Ottakars/Faber and Age Concern competitions. Another of his
interests is book reviewing, with the ‘Lincolnshire Echo’ newspaper

to door salesman, before a twenty year long career in Information
Technology that took him to Hong Kong, Macau, the

and most European countries. Since 2001 he had combined writing with
looking after two children. A book on Service Management was published in
1995 and his second book on being a full time father was published in
2004. He has three complete but unpublished novels, and several incomplete
and unpublished novels. He hopes one day to have an incomplete published
novel.

Johnnie Johnson was winner of NAWG’s award for ‘the most promising
novel’ in 1996. He has twenty published books to his name. He has won
the South East Arts Prose Prize and was a finalist in the Fenner
Brockway Peace Prize for Literature. His debut novel, And Such Great
Names as These, was published in February 2007. Johnnie has recently
signed a five-year contract with audio-book publishers, Oakhill
Publishing. His novel, And Such Great Names as These, is to
appear on disk in the summer of 2008.

Lanyon
was born in Leamington Spa in 1930 and has lived all over the British
Isles. She has three children and has worked in Children’s Theatre as
Children’s writer in Residence Swan Theatre, Worcester; Assistant
manager and Administrator for Children’s Work, Westcliff-on Sea; House
Manager, Chichester Festival Theatre and Theatre Manager at the Theatre
Royal, Plymouth. Angela has written numerous plays for children’s
theatre some published by New Playwrights Network. She has also written
plays for adults and school plays published by Heinemann in their Literacy
series.

book is set during the dramatic and exciting period of the reign of

02. Her short stories have
appeared in Hertfordshire Life, The Lady and Writers’
Forum.
Lesley has also had poetry published in Writers’ Forum, and last
year was runner up in her local Ottakar’s Poetry Competition with Sestina
for Lewana.
Lesley helped to set up the writers’ group The Stortford Scribblers who
encourage members to submit their work for publication. Lesley
is 80,000 words into Fathoming the Shadows, her first full-length
book; it will be finished in 2006.

born in Croatia (ex-Jugoslavia), I came to this country aged 16 in 1946.
My autobiography, The Find - the story of a war child - was recently
published. I have had articles published in magazines and newspapers and
won first and second prizes for poetry in competitions and in Writers'
Forum. At present I'm working on a book of my poetry and on a
coffee table book of advice from famous people from the world of sport,
politics, stage and cinema, as well as ordinary people, No Summit
Is Too High, to be published in aid of the British Disabled Ski
Team. I am a member of The Inn Scribers writing group in Harlow. |

Diane Wilson
is NAWG’s secretary and had success in three poetry competitions in
2005. Her book of poetry and prose about the role of Talbot House and
Poperinge in WWI, The Iron Harvest, was published in May 2005
by Biscuit Publishing, with launches in Bridlington and Poperinge. Early
in the year, Diane won a Writers’ Forum poetry competition,
was runner-up for Writing Magazine with a terza rima, and she
recently won the NAWG/Writers Bureau competition. Diane also won Writers’
News’ prize for onomatopoeia. Her work has featured in other
competitions and in anthologies. She is secretary of Bridlington
Writers’ Group.

is NAWG’s chairman and often “too busy to write.” But his novel Full
Fathom Five, about Bridlington’s Victorian lifeboat men, was
published early in 2005 by Biscuit Publishing. Mike is enthusiastic
about Bridlington and has several pamphlets on the town’s history
available in the local maritime museum. Several of his articles have
appeared in local and regional newspapers and magazines. He is delighted
when his one-liners and photos with humorous captions feature in the
national Daily Mail. With Diane, Mike performs historical
sketches about Amy Johnson and his hero Kit Brown from Full Fathom
Five for groups and schools.
