Close to the Edge…

Weekend Writing Courses by the Sea

28th—30th April 2017
19th—21st May 2017

Have you got a head full of ideas for a book, a screenplay, a TV script, a documentary, a song, a novel maybe? But where do you go from there? How do you take those folded creative wings and learn to fly?

This Spring, the Southfield House Writers Group is hosting two residential writing weekends led by renowned writer Marvin Close and themed as "Developing Your Ideas". There are six places only for budding writers to receive personal focused guidance to make that leap from initial ideas to viable, well-constructed and developed pieces of writing.

Marvin Close and Sue Fraser

Marvin Close started his career in regional journalism and moved on to write and storyline over 100 hours of broadcast TV including Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Tracey Beaker and Doctors. He has written award-winning stage plays, radio documentaries and comedy shows and his book More Than Just a Game has been published in different languages all over the world. He has delivered numerous writing workshops to universities, colleges, arts festivals and even groups in special education – as well as taught on Arvon writing courses.

These two intimate weekends will give nascent writers the chance to work closely with Marvin to draw on his well of talent at a charming, private Airbnb in the East Coast town of Hornsea. Full board is inclusive to a very high standard. The weekend starts Friday teatime and finishes Sunday lunchtime. The all-inclusive cost is only £345 per person.
